Saga Continues of Wholesale Bag Store customer service failure

This post is a continuation of the customer service experience i had with a wholesale bag store last week. So, when i realized that of the 11 handbags, and cosmetic bags i had ordered that 5 were bad and unsellable I contacted them by phone and email. There was no response to the phone call, so i emailed.I was very polite, and to the point. The email said that i had received some damaged bags, and would like to send them back, and have replacements sent.

They responded that they would issue a call tag,but that i would have to pay shipping again if i wanted the handbags reshipped.

How can that be fair?I allready paid you almost $16 to ship this order, why should I pay another $16 to send out the bags in a sellable condition?

That is our company policy.

In that case, I will just return these, never buy from you again, and you can issue a refund to my credit card.

We don’t issue refunds to credit cards. We issue store credit only.Because your order will fall below a $100 minimum, you will have to reach the minimum plus shipping to get another order.

I don’t understand this?

I am just asking you to send the order I placed, nothing more?

I called my bank, and i can file a chargeback. However, it would have to be for the whole order. That isn’t what i want.I want to pay them for the 6 good bags.I have been buying from them for 2 years, and never had this problem.

However, now that i know what kind of company they are, I don’t want to buy from them anymore.I don’t want to have to order more bags from them,to get the money back that i allready paid.

The measure of a good company is not how they handle the good times, but how they handle the bad. This company is a bad company. They sold inferior products, and refuse to take responsibility for it.

I allready have 6 other vendors i can buy bags from, and do buy from…I can order these exact bags from someone else,I don’t need this company… Will keep you posted on how this plays out..

Wholesale Bag Store Customer Service Fail

Every now and again i have the misfortune to run across a bad vendor.I work really hard to find good quality wholesalers, but once in a while I come across some stinky wholesale handbag sellers

Unfortunately, I came across one of these the other day. I have been ordering gorgeous animal print purses from this wholesale bag store for 2 years.I ordered some gorgeous bags, and they were delivered on Friday.

I opened the box to find that of 11 handbags, 5 were damaged and unsellable. This happens sometimes, but when i actually looked closer at 2 of the handbags, it looked as if they intentionally attempted to deceive me!The handles on the bags were laminated. It is a shiny plastic looking material. There were dull black fabric pieces sewn on the handles to hide where the handles were broken.

As bad as these bags look, the real horror was not in the items that they sent me, but their responses to the email/phone calls I made in attempt to get these returned, and replaced with undamaged product.(to be continued in the next blog post)

A year is a long time…but yet it seems like a day…

It was a year ago October 8th, that our physical store came into existence along with a matching website.

In many respects, i totally rebranded my company.I had been selling swimwear and travel accessories on Brooke Boutique and was looking to expand.
At least once a week, i second guess the decision to open a retail presence in the midst of the worst recession i have ever seen in my life. I allready know i am a entrepeneur.I allready know i have taken a lot of risk in my life in business. However, I am starting to second guess whether i may be touched in the head!
It hasn’t helped that i ended up having severe back pain a couple months into opening the boutique. It hasn’t helped that i ended up having major back surgery and am still recovering from that.It has been rough.
The website TheBlingThing.com is humming along.. It is the retail store that is struggling as expected.Maybe i was arrogant to think that people would want to buy the affordable jewelry and handbags i had been selling online for years.Maybe I am just not giving the people what they want. These are the things you think about when you spend hour after hour alone in a retail setting.
I am not sure where I will go from here.I have had to make major decisions to try to save my company.Decisions that aren’t pleasant.I have had to go from a 4 person company, to a 1 person company temporarily i hope.I will continue to pull out every trick I can think of,but will it be enough?
Retail takes a lot of time, money, and commitment. I don’t have money, I may not have much time left in the retail brick and mortar business, but I am committed.
Committed to doing the best i can to share the trends with you at affordable prices.Committed to stay true to my style, and brand.Committed to being honest with you,and fair for as long as i can keep the doors open.
If the time comes to close the doors, I hope i can do it with the grace and charm that the customers and residents of Saline have shown me and my company.
That’s All I have to say about that!

Shopaholics Welcome!

Where are the shopaholics when you need them? I know, I know! We are all shopping with caution, and spending within our means these days.. but i miss the old days!

The days when i felt like if i had checks in my checkbook,I had money.. the days when i could charge, charge, charge…

Everyone is going around trying to be good..not spending more than the cash in their pocket…

This is hard on retailers, i tell you! We count on the impulse buy, the over spend, the make your self feel better item!

Where are the shopping disordered hanging out these days??

Mina Project

We received the nicest thank you from a blog reader for a donation we sent to her church for a fund raiser.

below is an excerpt of the thank you note-
“Thank you for your donation of the jewelry tree for our Mother/Daughter Tea benefiting the Mina Project. The jewelry tree was a big hit and made the perfect addition to our Diva Basket, leading to intense bidding among the attendees. Thanks in part to your donation, the event was an overall success and memorable experience for all involved.”

That thank you note couldn’t have come at a better time for me! It reminds me that i am only one person, but that i can make a difference in the world. We all can!

Sara, if you read this post, we would love to hear a little bit about the Mina Project, and what you think the money you raised will go for.

Kindness? Is is really that difficult?

I have recently been reminded that we could all be a little kinder to one another. We run around from place to place, picking up kids, running errands. Sometimes we could all just take a minute and look around us.

Is it really so hard to stop for a minute, and actually be in the moment? Things have been really tough here in Michigan. People are losing their homes, their jobs. Simple acts of kindness like just making eye contact with another human being sometimes make the difference for people.

For years, i worked from my home. I got so lonely, i would actually pick up the phone when a telemarketer would call! When i moved my office out of my home,it made all the difference to me. Sigh

I could stop and get my coffee at the grocery store in the morning. Chat at the bank. You would think that i waste more time doing all that. However, i think i get more done. Because now when i am at work, i am really working. Not surfing the net, reading my favorite blogs, folding laundry.

Some people are disciplined, and enjoy working from home. I am just not one of those people.
